Star Wars Rebel Alliance Bowcaster - Review!

More crossbows!

The Star Wars Rebel Alliance Bowcaster is another spring powered direct plunger blaster. It is also loaded manually one foam dart at a time, and primed by pulling back the "bolt" handle, then just pull the trigger to fire a shot.

The blaster is packaged with 4 x foam darts. Although they are similar to Nerf foam darts, its not fully compatible with those ammo due to differences in internal dart construction.

Average range is around 20-25ft.

Once again, the bow arms are just for decoration, they are non-functional too. :)

Kung Fu Panda Commander Crossbow - Review!

Its crossbow time!

The Kung Fu Panda Commander Crossbow is a spring powered direct plunger blaster. It is loaded manually one foam dart at a time, and primed by pulling back the notch handle. Pull the trigger to fire a shot.

The blaster is packaged with 3 x foam darts (16mm width). Its not compatible with Nerf foam darts as they are too narrow to fit.

Average range is around 15-20ft.

Btw, the bow arms are just for decoration, they are not functional. :)

Optimus Prime Cyber Blaster - Review!

For Transformers fans... check out the Optimus Prime Cyber Blaster!

The Optimus Prime Cyber Blaster is a spring plunger powered blaster with an auto-rotating 8-barrel turret.

It operates the same way as a Nerf Hyperfire, simply pull back the top slider to prime it, then pull the trigger to fire a shot. The turret rotates on trigger pull.

In addition, this blaster has inbuilt automated electronic sound and light systems which produce voice and light effects when the blaster is primed and fired. 2 x AA batteries are supplied with it.

The package comes with 8 x whistler/sonic foam darts. It is also compatible with most Nerf foam darts. Average range is around 25-30ft.

Mortar Pistol - Review!

Load up and blast large caliber foam "slug" ammo!

The Mortar Pistol is an air tank blaster mounted with a 6-barrel rotating turret that fires large foam "slug" ammo. It has a beefy pistol shaped form factor, but while its main body is still relatively narrow, its turret has a rather comical "over-sized" look. :)

The air tank system is filled up by an on-board pump situated at the back and nested inside the air tank. It takes around 3-4 pumps to fill up the air tank.

Its trigger system uses a large spring loaded plastic & rubber stopper assembly design. As the air tank is pressurized, the stopper assembly is held closed by the blocker catch to seal the air pressure. When the trigger is pulled, it releases the blocker catch and all the air exits at once, then the spring loaded stopper pushes back and re-seals the air tank.

This style of trigger system produces a large and immediate release of air, hence there is a loud "bang" sound every time it is fired... similar in effect to the trigger and air release system on the Marshmallow Mazooka.

The package comes with 6 x foam "slug" ammo. Average stock range is around 15-20ft (i've noticed that the included stock foam "slug" ammo seems too light in weight for this blaster, as they tend to stall or tumble randomly in mid-flight).

Buzz Bee Rads 12 - Review!

Looking for a 12-shot pistol-sized blaster?

Check out the Buzz Bee Rads 12!

The Rads 12 is a direct spring plunger powered blaster which features a special auto-rotating turret that houses 12 barrels and a top mounted lever action priming handle.

Its unique turret design comes in the form of a large main turret section combined with 4 smaller turret sections of 3 barrels each.

Each time it is primed, the main turret turns anti-clockwise 90 degrees, while each of the smaller turrets sections rotate 120 degrees in sync. This is controlled by a series of gears in the rotating mechanism.

The blaster is packaged with 12 x Buzz Bee suction tipped foam darts. It is also compatible with most Nerf foam darts too.

Average stock range is around 20-25ft.

Photon Storm Blaster - Review!

Check out the Photon Storm Blaster!

This is an OEM brand blaster that popped up recently and i had the opportunity to get a set for review.

The Photon Storm uses a flywheel powered system to launch foam darts in semi-auto. It features 2 spinning flywheels positioned in a vertical layout.

This blaster requires 5 x AA batteries (sold separately) to operate. Simply engage the On/Off switch and the flywheels start spinning.

Every trigger pull fires one shot in a semi-auto sequence, a "dart pusher" behind the barrel pushes a foam dart in between the 2 spinning flywheels, then the flywheels will catch the tip of the foam dart and "throw" it out of the barrel. It operates on a similar principle to a tennis ball launcher.

The Photon Storm features an assault carbine style foam factor, mimicking the M4 Carbine design. It also features 20mm width tactical rails.

The blaster uses an ammo clip that can fit up to 12-13 foam darts. It is packaged with 10 x Streamline-like foam darts (solid rubber tips) and 10 x Suction-tipped foam darts.

Average stock range is around 25-30ft.

Update!

The Photon Storm blaster can use Nerf N-Strike Clips too. Users will just need to apply abit more force to load them in, as the clip feed opening has slightly different dimensions.

Note that the Photon Storm's ammo clip is not compatible with Nerf N-Strike blasters though, as it is too wide to fit.
