Buzz Bee Tetra-Strike - Review!

Looking for a compact sidearm that can fire in both true semi-auto and full-auto?

Gear up with the Buzz Bee Tetra-Strike!

The Buzz Bee Tetra-Strike is an air tank powered blaster which is primed by filling its individual air tank chambers via an on-board pump handle, it takes around 8-9 pumps to fill up its air tanks.

Its design and firing style resembles the Nerf Blast Fire or Nerf Hornet, though the Tetra-Strike has a more compact form factor and utilises a different method of activating its firing modes.

It has 4 barrels which can be fired in either semi-auto or full-auto/burst fire. The firing mode is controlled by trigger pull travel, each progressive quarter travel of the trigger pull fires off one shot, the firing sequence is from the top barrel to the bottom barrel.

If the trigger is pulled fully in one quick action, the shots can be fired off in a full-auto or burst fire effect.

The Tetra-Strike package comes with 6 x suction tip darts. It is compatible with most Nerf foam darts too. The average range is around 25-30ft in both semi-auto and full auto/burst fire modes.

In my opinion, the Tetra-Strike is the ideal compact sidearm for any game scenario. It is easy to holster and light to carry, has good range, and its semi-auto and full-auto firing modes are very effective in close-quarter firefights... carry two and its dual-wield blaster time! :)

  1. I really want this. I have 3 questions. Can it fire streamlines? How much is it in American dollars? Is it out in the US? When will it be out i the US? How many times do you have to pump it?

  2. j,

Yes, it can fire streamline darts too.

I've no idea its actual price or avaliability in the USA at the moment as i got the sets from a fellow nerfer online who is from Canada.

It takes around 8-9 pumps to fill up its air tanks.

  4. Reload time? I guess its just how fast you can load 4 darts and pump it up. :)

  5. I just got it in Toys R Us for 8 american dollars. It is a great gun but it has a short range. It is kinda hard to fire the last shot. Mine was blue.

  7. weaponhazard,

The Tetra-Strike is not avaliable locally. I got my sets from a fellow nerfer in Canada. :)

  9. weaponhazard,

I'm not sure if that seller still has anymore Tetra-Strikes avaliable. But if you are keen, you can check with k9turrent over at the NerfHaven forum trading section, see if he can help you out on stock.

Price-wise you'll have to check with the various sellers, depending of who quotes you, it should be around USD$10-$15 each (excluding shipping).

  10. This looks like a very chunky weapon. it is oversized isn't it? pluss the grip is small. You say easy to holster, but the size of the front looks like that would be a challenge. Can you please clarify if those are true?

  11. ZombiezuRFER,

Yup, in comparison to the Nerf Maverick, the Tetra-Strike is taller in height but slimmer in width.

Compared to the other semi-auto air-powered blasters like the Nerf Hornet or Nerf Blast Fire, the Tetra-Strike is still more compact in size.

I usually holster my Tetra-Strikes by either carrying them in one of my hip pouches, or just holstering them in the large side pockets of my cargo pants.

Ultimately, users can adapt all sorts of different ways to holster it. At least the Tetra-Strike has a comparatively more compact size which makes it abit easier to customize holsters for it.

  14. USNerf,

Well, so far i've only done a simple re-barrel of my Tetra-Strikes using PETG tubes. No plans to post a mod guide yet.

You could check out a similiar mod by "Pearson2" at the NerfHaven forum:

  15. Hey, I got one of these and it seems to decrease in power as you fire in "semi". e.g the top barrel goes about 25ft but the third goes about 10 and the bottom never fires, just pokes out a little. I trimmed down the "pegs" in the barrel and it can shoot all the darts in "barrage" mod but I still cannot get the lower barrel to shoot in "semi" mode. Any suggestions what to do without rebarreling it? can i take the "pegs" out or will this make the darts simpley fall out

  16. sirhazza,

Each of the Tetra-Strike's barrels have their own individual air tanks, so for working units all 4 barrel will output the same power and range.

If any of your unit's barrels are underperforming, it means the individual air tanks or seals attached to those barrels are faulty in the first place. Troubleshooting those parts can be quite difficult, as you'll need to take everything apart to find the problems and solve them.

So i would advise you to just exchange it at the store for a new working set, save all the hassle if trying to troubleshoot it.

I have spotted some units of these at Empire Shopping Gallery's TRU, just letting you know.

    1. ~Haniff Hardy~,

Hornet has 6 shots (but its larger) while Tetra Shot has 4 shots (but its more compact), so i guess it just depends on whether you prefer more ammo capacity or smaller form factor.

    1. 16kuokhc1,

Well, both work similarly... main difference is the Tetra-Strike has only 4 barrels and uses pull-pin air tanks (instead of the back-pressure air tank system on the Nerf Blastfire).
